WORKSHOP
The transformation of the marble is done by hand using traditional and digital tools.
Today, the Lemaître family works with twenty collaborators, marble craftsmen and sculptors, occupying a space of approximately 1,200m2.
The marble moves from one workshop to another
During its transformation, from cutting, to polishing, to moulding and sculpturing before reaching the final stage of assembling and finishing.
Traditional tools
Carboundum wheels are adapted for customised pieces. The gouge chisel, the claw chisel, the graindorge, the traditional cutter, the gradine and grated tools are all essential to create or adjust a shape.
The correct gesture, the time and application spent polishing the stone, the ability to observe its reaction and to stop at the right moment, all require an intimate knowledge of the material and the tools.
Digital
tools
Technical equipment is the natural progression from the traditional tools and methods. The numeric tools have allowed for the development of an increased production of made-to-measure orders in answer to the growing demand of our clients
The acquisition of a 5-axe numeric machine has enabled us to go further in the elaboration of specific shapes. This new tool provides the possibility to answer the need for increasingly intricate decoration accessories.
Restorations
The restoration of the stone pieces requires skilled knowledge of the materials and their original use. The reconstruction of pigments – found in pieces located in antique shops, street markets, etc. is a precious way to give life back to material from a previous century.
